Friends of Osprey secures new round of support from the Carthew Foundation

Friends of Osprey is delighted to announce that the Carthew Foundation has again provided funding support for our conservation work, with a grant of $15,000 to support a range of activities across South Australia in the year ahead.

The funding will support four key initiatives:

  • Hosting a visit from the UK-based Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation, one of the world’s foremost raptor conservation organisations, to support knowledge exchange and strengthen our international research network.
  • An expansion of our Osprey monitoring program, which is central to understanding Osprey movement, habitat use and survival rates in South Australia.
  • A community engagement event on Kangaroo Island during the upcoming breeding season, with the aim of establishing a Kangaroo Island sub-committee of Friends of Osprey.
  • A contribution toward the commission and installation of an Osprey sculpture at the Price community precinct on the Yorke Peninsula.

This latest grant builds on a deeply valued relationship with the Carthew Foundation, which provided $45,000 between 2021 and 2024 to support the construction and installation of Osprey nesting platform infrastructure across South Australia. That investment has had a direct and measurable impact on Osprey breeding activity in the state, and Friends of Osprey is proud to have put those funds to such productive use.

We look forward to continuing what has been an extremely fruitful relationship with the Carthew Foundation, and we are grateful for their ongoing commitment to Osprey conservation in South Australia.
